As part of an educational initiative to support rural students from educationally underdeveloped sections of the state, the Government Arts and Science College, Harij was founded in 2016.

The college is associated with Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University, Patan, and offers two degree programs: Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science.

All the faculty members of the institute are well qualified, competent and dedicated.

All the members of staff are actively engaged in imparting quality teaching as well as student development programs by conducting variegated activities for students in college.

The institute conducts ‘Finishing School’ program for enhancing the employability skill of the students.

The college aims at sensitizing students on socio-economic issues with emphasis on gender and environmental issues through various extension activities that were carried out in N.S.S last year.

The college also took the lead in arranging the Mega Placement Meet organized by the Government of Gujarat and worked as the Nodal Institute for all colleges of North Gujarat region.
